Monsoon brings a flood of fresh and vibrant cherries to the market. This season, combine the sweet and subtle flavour of cherries with walnuts to whip up a variety of sweet and savoury recipes Ingredients 500 gms cherries 40 gms California Walnuts 4 spoons of sugar 125 gms flour 3 eggs ½ glass of milk 1 vanilla pod 20 gms butter A pinch of salt Preparations: Remove the stalks of the cherries. Cut walnuts into quarters and fill cherries with them, distribute in 4 individual bowls, sprinkle with half the sugar and let stand 30 minutes. Heat the milk with the vanilla pod open and the remaining sugar, when starting to boil remove from heat, cover and let cool, strain. Beat eggs with salt, infused milk and sifted flour. Start your morning off right with this easy French toast recipe with the healthy twist of California walnuts. The added crunch of walnuts makes this classic recipe even more addictive. Ingredients: 2 medium eggs 1 tablespoon milk 1 teaspoon honey 2 thick slices white bread (100g) 50g walnut halves, chopped & extra to serve 1 tablespoon oil Knob of butter (10g) To serve: Fresh strawberries, blueberries or seasonal fruits Preparation: 1. Mix together the eggs, milk and honey in a shallow dish, add the bread slices and soak on both sides until most of the egg mixture has been absorbed. 2. Sprinkle the walnuts over 1 side of each slice and press in. 3. Heat the oil and butter in a large frying pan and fry the bread gently, walnut crusted side down first, for 2 minutes each side or until golden. 4.
